The Gond people, one of India's largest and most ancient tribes, have a 1400-year history. They primarily reside in Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha, but their art is widely cherished by culture enthusiasts around the world. Gond art is deeply rooted in the belief that good images bring good luck. To ward off evil and invite good fortune, Gonds adorn their homes with traditional tattoos and motifs. Their paintings showcase their interconnectedness with nature, illustrating their beliefs, rituals, village life, and man's relationship with the natural world. In keeping with tradition, these artworks make generous use of vibrant hues, imaginative lines, and dots and often involve the application of materials found in nature, such as soil, plants, and charcoal. Today, Gond artists also incorporate modern materials such as canvas and acrylic and oil paints.
